My Synopsis

Goo Doo Young (Do Kyung Soo) is a judo martial artist who was a hopeful for the national team when he ends up injured in a match and losing his vision. His imprisoned brother uses the incident as an excuse for parole under the guise of caring for his estranged younger brother. It was a chance at freedom for Go Doo Shik (Jo Junk Suk) and the potential to use his brother for his financial means. Those plans are ruined as he finds himself with a growing affection for his younger brother, and a sudden realization of how short time is. Can he pull his brother out of depression and help him realize his dreams before it is too late?

My Review: 10/10

This really was a beautiful movie of two brothers who learn to love each other after, pretty much, a lifetime of estrangement. I thought this accomplished a lot in a short period of time. I am not normally a movie person, but this one was definitely worth the watch. I love movies that make me think and teach me something. This one surely did that. It will teach you the importance of family, and to never take the time you have for granted. It will make you laugh, and make you cry. The ending is emotional, I bawled my head off, but it was also a satisfying ending at the same time. I don't think anyone would regret watching this. My only warning comes with the language... there is plenty of foul language in this movie, sadly. Otherwise, this would have been very family friendly. Overall, other than the language, the translation in Amazon Prime is my biggest complaint. Even though I don't know much hangul I did recognize that there were some lines that were not translated very accurately. And, there was language added in that didn't need to be there. They even translated a glare into a swear word. So... hoping they fix all that nonsense.

I don't think there is ever anything negative I could say about the acting of Do Kyung Soo. He has been one of my all time favorite actors since I saw him in 100 Days My Prince. He can be tough and kick butt and then turn around and make me cry with his emotions. He did an amazing job of portraying the blind Go Doo Young. It was very believable and I think the casting of him in this role was an excellent choice.

This was my first time seeing Jo Jung Suk in a role. He was also a perfect fit for Doo Young's brother. The two definitely had great family chemistry. I absolutely loved their interaction from start to finish. Seeing them together for interviews and when recording their song for the movie it would seem as if they really did grow a real-life brotherly affection for each other during filming.  I felt Jo Junk Suk did an excellent job portraying the swindler brother as well as his transition into a caring protective brother.

I would definitely recommend this movie. It is heart-warming and life-affecting. Maybe a nice in-between-dramas choice.  Great plot, great actors... can't ask for more!

OST

Here is the beautiful song 'Don't Worry, My Dear' sung by Do Kyung Soo and Jo Jung Suk.
