My Review: 9.5/10

This is definitely a story that will keep you on your toes. Rakuten Viki lists it as a romantic comedy/fantasy, but MyDramaList also adds the genres thriller and mystery which I feel are more accurate to describe this drama. Yes, it does have some funny moments and romantic moments, but I would say that more often than not this is a serious drama and very much a mysterious thriller. Usually, I am not as much of a fan of the more intense genres because I scare easily, but truth be told, I was both scared and glued during this. It was so very well told and the twists and turns it took kept me guessing. Usually I am good at guessing how things will go early on, but this one was different and I loved that about it.

Park Jin Young was a good choice as the role of Lee Ahn. He brought a cute playful side to the character which made him very likeable and helped to add lightheartedness to the drama. He still had some of his youthful sense of invincibility so he also dives head into danger, fists flying, which was also fun to watch. Especially since he seemed to enjoy it. I was really impressed with his acting, this being the first time I have seen him in a drama. He was stretched in the different emotions he had to portray and I found his acting very believable.

Shin Ye Eun played the character Yoon Jae In. She is a character tied to the Lee Ahn's past. Unaware at the time, he meets her first for a brief period of time in school and then reconnects with her later when he attempts to join the police force. Neither one has forgotten the other as there was definitely a heart-connection between them in school. As far as the acting, I was very happy with the casting of Shin Ye Eun in this role. The first time I saw her was in Meow, the Secret Boy, and I really didn't feel that role fit her so well. This one was definitely a better fit, in my subjective opinion. She did an amazing job and has definitely grown my interest in her as an actress.

I really felt the romantic aspect of this drama needed it's own section here. It really does play a more minor role than a lot of other dramas, especially as the conflict intensifies and the characters are drawn into the main storyline. However, with that said, I found the romantic scenes in this drama to be some of the sweetest that I have ever watched. Maybe other's won't agree? I don't know, but each one was tender and heart-warming and melted me to my toes. These two have great chemistry and I found their connection beautiful to watch. Their affection for each other actually seemed genuine.

I felt these two other characters also deserved a mention here, as the story would not have been the story without them. Kim Kwon played Kang Sung Mo, the adoptive brother of Lee Ahn, them both having been through the same tragedy. He is a mysterious character and was well played by Kim Kwon. Kim Da Som plays the role of  Eun Ji Soo, a very likeable character whom I found myself drawn to very early on. She is a co-worker/partner with Kang Sung Mo and acts as an older sister to Lee Ahn. I was extremely impressed by her acting and really would like to see her in other things. She was definitely one of my favorite characters.

Is this worth a watch? Absolutely! In fact, I think if you like k-dramas at all, this needs to be on your list. Action, comedy, romance, fantasy/sci-fi... it really has something for every preference and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. It will keep you guessing and coming back for more. Highly recommended drama!

Park Jin Young (Jinyoung) is a singer/songwriter for the boy band Got7 but unfortunately does not sing an OST for this drama. However, he did have a solo single released a few years ago called My Youth which he wrote himself. Check it out on YouTube!
