My Synopsis

The kingdom of Joseon is in a period of serious drought. With the pressure on Prince Lee Yul (Do Kyung Soo) to resolve the issue he orders the marriage of every person of age by the end of the month. In the midst of unresolved palace scandal he reluctantly takes his father's place and leaves for the rain festival. He meets with a catastrophe on the road that leaves him injured, with amnesia, in the hands of a local peasant.

By his own edict he is given a new name, Won Deuk, and married to a peasant girl named Yeon Hong Shim (Nam Ji Hyun). As he struggles to adapt to a foreign, and uncomfortable, lifestyle he begins to develop feelings for his young wife. However, those who want his life are still looking for him. Can he return to the throne, save the palace and keep Hong Shim?

My Review 10/10

"지금 나만 불편한거?"

This is one of the best dramas I have ever watched. I have seen in twice now and will definitely watch it again. D.O. plays the uncomfortable amnesic prince. This was the first drama I saw him in and he quickly became one of my favorite actors of all time. His portrayal of the angry prince and his change as he learns and grows is phenomenal. He pulls off a wide range of emotions and also shows us some pretty awesome fighting skills. His relationship with Hong Shim is very believable... the two of them have great chemistry and they gave us plenty of sweet moments. Amazing acting by D.O.!

Hong Shim, brought to life by Nam Ji Hyun, is one of my favorite drama characters. Her strong personality was a perfect match for the spoiled prince, which brought about some great conflict and tension between the two at the start of their unconventional marriage. Nam Ji Hyun is a talented and beautiful actress and I am excited to see her in other dramas as well. She did an incredible job portraying Hong Shim!

Though not actually listed as the main cast, I felt this guy should be, so on my list he is. Kim Seon Ho was the character Jong Jae Yoon. He proves to be a friend of the prince as well as a competitor for the hand of Hong Shim. I thought the addition of his character, and his smart comments, to this drama was priceless. I can't imagine the drama without him so I thought that it only right I mention him. I have yet to see another drama with Kim Seon Ho, but I am looking forward to it. Another great actor!

Saving Hong Shim

As for the plot... again I would give this a 10/10. The story that leads to the attack on the prince, his amnesia and eventual return to the palace is all strongly led by an incredible plotline that will keep you glued. And like most Korean Dramas has plenty of underlying connections that keep tension and the story moving forward. This drama will not disappoint! One of my most highly recommended dramas!

OST

Though Do Kyung Soo (Exo's D.O.) does not officially sing a song for this soundtrack he did get recorded singing a clip from the song "Cherry Blossom" written (and sung by his band member Chen) for this drama. 💗

And, because "Cherry Blossom" is one of my favorite OSTs I thought I would put it in even though it is not sung by one of the actors/actresses.
