My Review: 9.5/10

I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Nok Du. I loved the unique twists it takes, and even the ending was a bit different than I had expected. Overall the story is about a boy in search of his identity. An identity he didn't know he was missing until the attack on his family. But, rather than tell him, he is allowed to search on his own for the answer. It is a dangerous journey that will threaten his life and test the strength of his heart.

Nok Du is played by Jang Dong Yoon. This is the first drama I have seen him in and I truly enjoyed watching him act. He has great talent for both the serious and funny. In this drama his character is forced to take on the role of Lady Kim, a widow coming to the widow's village for refuge. I am not sure many actors could pull this off as well as he does. He makes for a rather pretty lady, actually. He must immerse himself pretty deep in this role and even is put in a situation where he/she must kiss a man to maintain that identity. However, this part is only temporary and he will spend the majority of the drama as a man in plenty of incredible fight scenes. The role required a range in acting and I can say that Jang Dong Yoon pulled it off well.

Dong Dong Ju, the female lead, is played by the popular actress Kim So Hyun. This is also the first drama I have seen her in. Since then I have watched her in one other, and will probably see her act in many others as she has quite the acting career. It is no wonder as she is a great actress and can handle the sweet and gentle as well as the revengeful and angry side of things. She was a great pairing for Jang Dong Yoon. I felt that they had a sweet chemistry. I actually think I liked them together best when they were both in the widow village, where at first she looked up to him as her mother figure (until she discovers she is actually a he). But, still the way he took care of her there was sweet. Dong Ju goes through quite a wide range of emotions and troubles which are only increased by her connection with Nok Du, whose identity puts her at further risk and threatens her own quest for revenge.

I give this drama 9.5/10 and highly recommend it to anybody with an interest in K-dramas. It will take you through heart-warming moments to those that keep you on the edge of your seat in this action packed romantic comedy. Enjoy!
